SYRIZA questions veracity of 2014 budget in criticism of gov’t over troika negotiations

In a statement on the government’s negotiations with the troika of lenders, who are returning to Athens for an assessment this week, SYRIZA said that “the government is trying to decouple the fiscal gap from the state budget, and that’s the shadow under which discussions with lenders are being held.”

The party charged however that “if the final property tax had not been formulated, the return of VAT to former and lower levels is still open and the discussion about home foreclosures and defence systems is still open, how reliable can the state budget just voted be?”

“Is it, or not, a budget hanging in the air, and about to be revised, as the government has jointly admitted with the lenders?” it queried.
