EU Commissioner Hahn to visit Athens and Crete on 11-12 Dec.

On Wednesday, Hahn will be on Crete where he will have a series of meetings with representatives of the local and regional administration as well as with entrepreneurs.

Later, he will go to Athens and will meet with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and with Development Minister Costis Hatzidakis.

On Thursday

at 11.00, the EU Commissioner together with Athens mayor Giorgios Kaminis will unveil Athens municipality’s project of urban development “Ergo Athens”. The project is considered by the EU as “a great innovation”, given that for the first time a municipality is directly funded by EU restructuring funds, which amount to 120 million euro. The project includes funding for 72 works aiming Athens’ business, social and environmental revigoration as well as the management of the economic crisis.

“The results will be visible by the end of 2014,” Panos Karvounis, head of the European Commission office in Greece said to ANA-MPA, adding that “there will be a programme for each citizen – for the businessman, the consumer, the unemployed, the stroller, the family man and the unemployed”.
