Από το ορεινό Πακιστάν στην πασαρέλα του Μιλάνο. Η ιστορία της 22χρονης Καρίσμα Άλι που μπήκε στη λίστα του Forbes

Κατάγεται από ένα ορεινό χωριό του Πακιστάν. Είναι παθιασμένη αθλήτρια του ποδοσφαίρου που εκπροσωπεί τη χώρα της σε διεθνή τουρνουά. Στα 22 της, το όνομά της φιγουράρει στη λίστα του Forbes, είναι πρότυπο για όλες τις νέες γυναίκες, περπάτησε σε πασαρέλα του Μιλάνο και συναντήθηκε με τον πρίγκιπα Γουίλιαμ και την Κέιτ Μίντλετον. 

Είναι η Καρίσμα Άλι.

Γυναικείο αθλητικό σωματείο στο Πακιστάν

Μεγάλωσε σε μια απομακρυσμένη ορεινή περιοχή του Πακιστάν, το Τσιτράλ.
Όταν ήταν μικρή, ο πατέρας την ρώτησε τι ήθελα να κάνει στη ζωή της. Εκείνη του απάντησε «κάτι διαφορετικό».
Και

φαίνεται πως τα κατάφερε.

Το ποδόσφαιρο ήταν η μεγάλη της αγάπη. Παρά τις θυσίες που έκανε, κατάφερε να γίνει ποδοσφαιριστής και να εκπροσωπήσει το Πακιστάν, δεδομένου ότι οι γυναίκες στο Τσιτράλ δεν είχαν καμία ποδοσφαιρική παράδοση.
Αξιοσημείωτο όμως είναι ότι δημιούργησε τον πρώτο γυναικείο αθλητικό σύλλογο στην περιοχή της.

«Μεγάλωσα σε μια πατριαρχική κοινωνία, πρόθυμη να κάνω κάτι διαφορετικό. Δεν ήταν ποτέ αποδεκτό για τα κορίτσια να παίζουν σπορ. Ένα καλό κορίτσι ήταν εκείνο που θα παντρευόταν νωρίς, δεν θα μιλούσε ποτέ για τα δικαιώματά της και θα μείνει στην κουζίνα», δήλωσε η Καρίσμα στο Fifa.com και πρόσθεσε:

«Αλλά ήθελα να παίξω ποδόσφαιρο. Εκείνη την εποχή, αυτό ήταν πολύ περίεργο για ένα κορίτσι από το Τσιτράλ – η μόνη φορά που μπορούσα να παίξω ήταν όταν πήγαινα για πικνίκ με τον πατέρα μου. Αλλά πάντα ήθελα να κάνω το αδύνατο δυνατό. Ήξερα ότι θα γινόμουν ποδοσφαιριστής μια μέρα».

Το 2016, μετά το δημοτικό σχολείο, η Καρίσμα Άλι μετακόμισε το Ισλαμαμπάτ, ενώ στις διακοπές της επέστρεφε στο χωριό της και ως εθελόντρια δίδασκε αγγλικά σε ένα τοπικό σχολείο.
Την ίδια χρονιά εκπροσώπησε το Πακιστάν στους αγώνες «Jubilee». Τότε είδε μια ανάρτηση στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, που έλεγε ότι ήταν το μοναδικό κορίτσι από το Τσιτράλ που έπαιζε ποδόσφαιρο.
Αν και αισθάνθηκε υπερήφανη, αμέσως προβληματίστηκε, καθώς ο πληθυσμός των γυναικών στο Τσιτράλ ξεπερνά τις 220.000.

«Τότε αποφάσισα να ξεκινήσω το «Chitral Women’s Sports Club». Ήθελα να φέρω μια αλλαγή για τα κορίτσια και τις γυναίκες  που είχαν το όνειρο να κάνουν κάτι διαφορετικό και να γίνουν κάτι περισσότερο από μια νοικοκυρά».

Παρά τη γενναιότητα της απόφασής της, δεν ήταν λίγοι εκείνοι που έσπευσαν να την … τραμπουκίσουν. Σύντομα, στο Facebook εμφανίστηκε μια σελίδα από το Τσιτράλ που αρκετοί σχολίασαν αρνητικά την Καρίσμα.
Ένα μέλος έγραψε πως τα πόδια της κοπέλας έπρεπε να «κοπούν» ενώ άλλο μέλος της είπε ¨καλύτερα να πεθάνει παρά να κάνει τα υπόλοιπα κορίτσια να παίξουν ποδόσφαιρο».

Πλέον, σήμερα πάνω από 100 κορίτσια παίζουν ποδόσφαιρο στο αθλητικό κλαμπ του Τσιτράλ.

«Τα κορίτσια που συμμετέχουν στον γυναικείο αθλητικό σύλλογο ανήκουν σε μειονεκτούσες οικογένειες, γι ‘αυτό όλες οι δραστηριότητες χρηματοδοτούνται πλήρως. Ήθελα να ενδυναμώσω αυτά τα νεαρά κορίτσια και να δείξω στους ανθρώπους ότι τα κορίτσια μπορούν να επιτύχουν οτιδήποτε όταν τους παρέχετε ίσες ευκαιρίες», δήλωσε η Καρίσμα στο Fifa.com.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως σύμφωνα με την έκθεση του «Human Rights Watch» το 2020, ο γάμος σε νεαρή ηλικία στο Πακιστάν παραμένει ένα σοβαρό πρόβλημα, ενώ σύμφωνα με τα στοιχεία της Unicef, το 21% των κοριτσιών στο Πακιστάν, παντρεύονται πριν συμπληρώσουν τα 18 του έτη.

Ανεξάρτητα από τα επιτεύγματά της στο ποδόσφαιρο, πρόσφατα η Καρίσμα γνώρισε και συνεργάστηκε με την Στέλλα Τζιν, σχεδιάστρια με καταγωγή από την Αϊτή και την Ιταλία. Η συνεργασία μαζί με τη σχεδιάστρια την οδήγησε στην παρουσίαση της κολεξιόν από το «Κέντρο Χειροτεχνίας του Τσιτράλ» στην Εβδομάδα Μόδας στο Μιλάνο.

So recently I have been seeing this picture of one of our artisans from @chitralwomenhc holding the embroidery work done on Stella Jean dress and there’s two different reactions to it. ⁃ One are the people who are not giving enough credits to the artisans. I don’t understand all these journalists and page admins who post things without full information. Our focus is to empower the women of Pakistan, let everyone else know about their talent rather than taking credits away from them. It is the hard work of these women that has made Pakistan proud and made it possible for pakistani embroidery to be displayed at the Milan fashion week. So please let’s give them some attention. Not a single journalist, not a single admin gave credits to the woman holding the embroidery work. They worked so hard on this project. These women don’t know international standards but they knew what the work meant for their country and so they produced the best embroidery work possible. They worked really really hard! ⁃ Secondly, there are people who keep talking about fair pay and what not. I understand when you need information about whether or not the artisans got paid but it is ridiculous to start assuming that they didn’t and start spreading fake news. Let me tell you something, these women have been paid 3 times more than what they would have normally been paid for their work. My aim is to economically empower them so I make sure that my artisans are paid well!! Most of these women have earned for the first time. Some were able to earn more than what their husbands usually earn while others could pay their children’s school or college fee. They felt empowered by helping their families financially.I would never treat these women unfairly and nor would Stella Jean. So excuse me, please take some time and do your research before throwing all the negativity and lies online. Η Καρίσμα σπουδάζει επιχειρήσεις στο Πανεπιστήμιο. Για αρκετό καιρό σκεφτόταν το βιοποριστικό πρόβλημα για πολλές γυναίκες στο Τσιτράλ. Έτσι, το 2019, δημιούργησε το «Κέντρο Χειροτεχνίας Τσιτράλ», το οποίο επικεντρώνεται στη δημιουργία προϊόντων που αναδεικνύουν την πολιτιστική κληρονομιά του Τσιτράλ με μια πιο σύγχρονη ματιά.

I overcame with powerful emotions as I saw the work of my artisans on the runway. Tears wouldn’t be contained, feeling proud of my people, of my country, of the blessings that I have received and meeting an angel like Stella Jean. Who not only gave me an opportunity but also wanted to show the world the true side of Pakistan, of Chitral. Seeing the work of my artisans on world stage couldn’t be described into words. This past year I started a handicraft center for women in Karimabad, Chitral. Soon after starting, I was introduced to Stella Jean, through Zahir. I couldn’t be more thankful to Zahir for the introduction and placing his trust in me. Without knowing much about me, Stella trusted me and decided to make a trip to Pakistan. I travelled multiple times a week from Islamabad to Chitral and from Rambur (Kalash) to Karimabad . Lack of experience clouded my mind but trust placed in by Stella and @Yoox made everything possible. A big thank you to Yoox! Meeting Stella has been surreal. She is an angel in disguise. Not only did Stella want to show the world our designs but also our culture, our people, our humanity, our hospitality and much more. She wanted to learn and she wanted to help us grow. Being with her inspired me to do better and be part of her cause. I felt like she placed her trust in me to further her cause, our cause. Sitting there watching my artisans’ designs go by one after another, feeling proud, happy, being extremely emotional were just few of the things I felt. I couldn’t hold back and I want the world to know this. I want to show the world what Chitral can do, what the women in my village are capable of. When people wear @stellajean_sj_ , I want them to know that it is more than just a piece of cloth. It is a whole story of a mother who was able to pay her child’s tuition fee. A woman who for the first time was able to financially help her family. It is a story of women who felt empowered by working on the dress. Here’s to another success story. Not just of me but the entire artisans from Chitral and Hunza who showed the world that Pakistan is more than what they see on media. Our people are kind, hospitable and hardworking.

Η Καρίσμα δήλωσε πως: » Έπειτα γνώρισα τη Στέλλα, η οποία είναι τώρα αγαπητή φίλη. Ήθελε το κέντημα «Chitrali-Kalash» στα φορέματά της και οι μοδίστρες στο κέντρο χειροτεχνίας, παρήγαγαν 400 μέτρα κέντημα μέσα σε ένα μήνα. Στη συνέχεια, προσκλήθηκα από τη Στέλλα να παρευρεθώ στο Μιλάνο για να παρακολουθήσω το έργο των μοδίστων, κάτι που ήταν ήδη μια μεγάλη έκπληξη, αλλά τότε μου έδωσε μια μεγαλύτερη έκπληξη καλώντας με να κλείσω την παράσταση μαζί της!»

Ανθρωπιστικό έργο στο Τσιτράλ

Η μόλις 22χρονη Καρίσμα Άλι, έχει όλο τον χρόνο μπροστά της για να πραγματοποιήσει τα όνειρά της. Και ενώ η πανδημία του κορονοϊού έχει βάλει στον «πάγο» τα σχέδιά της, η ίδια ανταποκρίθηκε στην πανδημία με αποφασιστικό και παραγωγικό τρόπο.

Η πλειοψηφία των ανθρώπων στο Τσιτράλ δουλέυον ως εργάτες σε διαφορετικές πόλεις. Εξαιτίας της καραντίνας, αρκετοί έχασαν τη δουλειά τους, με αποτέλεσμα πολλές οικογένειες να αντιμετωπίζουν σοβαρό οικονομικό πρόβλημα.

Η Καρίσμα με δική της πρωτοβουλία συγκέντρωσε κεφάλαια και παρέχει χρήματα σε όσους χρειάζονται βοήθεια, ενώ προμήθευσε με το ιατρικό προσωπικό της πόλης της με ιατρικό εξοπλισμό.

Μέχρι στιγμής, πάνω από 125 οικογένειες έχουν βοηθηθεί, ενώ τοπικό νοσοκομείο του Τσιτράλ έχει εξοπλιστεί με στολές PPE, μάσκες, γάντια, ασπίδες προσώπου και γυαλιά.

Η Καρίσμα φαίνεται πως δεν έχει … ταβάνι, ενώ το ανθρωπιστικό της έργο αποδεικνύει ότι όλοι όσοι έχουν θέληση μπορούν να επιτύχουν τα όνειρα τους παράγοντας παράλληλα έργο για το κοινωνικό σύνολο.
