The CEF Transport programme is supporting with a EUR 16 million grant a project to reduce the emissions of the public transport fleet in the French city of Lyon.

Richard Ferrer, Head of Innovation & Alternative Fuels at CINEA, officially handed over the grant agreement to Bruno Bernard, President of Sytral, the Public Transport Operator.

Through this project CEF will support the deployment of 117 battery-electric trolleybuses, 46 electric buses, 2 hydrogen buses, the adaptation of trolleybus lines and equipment of bus depots with recharging infrastructure.

This project is expected to reduce emissions by more than 7,000 tonnes of CO2 per year by the time it concludes in 2023.
