Η Mercedes επενδύει 500 εκατ. ευρώ σε νέο εργοστάσιο κινητήρων στην Πολωνία

Όπως ανακοίνωσε η Mercedes-Benz, θα επενδύσει 500 εκατομμύρια ευρώ για τη δημιουργία ενός νέου εργοστάσιου παραγωγής κινητήρων στη Πολωνία. Το συγκεκριμένο εργοστάσιο αναμένεται να ξεκινήσει την λειτουργία του από το 2019 και θα κατασκευαστεί 70 χλμ δυτικά από το Βρότσλαβ, στη νοτιοδυτική πλευρά της χώρας, 430 χιλιόμετρα

από την Βαρσοβία. Στο εργοστάσιο θα κατασκευάζονται τετρακύλινδροι κινητήρες βενζίνης και πετρελαίου και θα γίνει το δεύτερο εργοστάσιο παραγωγής κινητήρων της Mercedes εκτός Γερμανίας, μετά από αυτό του Πεκίνου.

Στις σχετικές ειδήσεις η Mercedes ανακοίνωσε πως θα επενδύσει 580 εκατ. ευρώ στο εργοστάσιό της στο Kecskemet της Ουγγαρίας, ώστε αυτό να αναβαθμιστεί και να επεκταθεί, μιας και εκεί θα μεταφερθεί η παραγωγή των επόμενων μικρομεσαίων μοντέλων της, , συμπεριλαμβανομένης της A-Class και της GLA. Σήμερα το εργοστάσιο κατασκευάζει τα B-Class, CLA και CLA Shooting Brake.

Daimler plans new engine plant in Poland

Stuttgart/Jawor – Daimler AG plans to invest approximately 500 million euros in a new production facility in Poland, creating several hundred new jobs there. The first Mercedes-Benz Cars plant in Poland is to be established in Jawor, about 70 kilometres west of Wroclaw, and will produce four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. The location decision and implementation of the project are dependent on various final commitments regarding the investment conditions, including the granting of state aid for the investment in Jawor. An investment of approximately 500 million euros is planned for the first stage of the new engine site.

“The planned establishment of a new engine plant in Poland is a further step in our global growth strategy. Capacity expansion in Eastern Europe reflects the increasingly international orientation of our powertrain production compound. This will lead to more flexibility and efficiency in our worldwide production network,” stated Markus Schäfer, Member of the Divisional BoardMercedes-Benz Cars, Production and Supply Chain Management. Start of production at the new Daimler site is planned for the year 2019.

“With the new facility in Jawor, we want to start the second engine production of Mercedes-Benz Cars outside Germany. This allows us to react flexibly to market changes across several plants. The powertrain production compound is managed by the lead plant in Untertürkheim,” explained Frank Deiß, Head of Production Powertrain Mercedes-Benz Cars and Site Manager Mercedes-Benz plant Untertürkheim. The future employees at the engine plant in Poland will be prepared for their new tasks with extensive training courses.

“The planned construction of a new engine plant in Poland by Daimler AG is evidence of the good state of our economy. We are open for international investment and will systematically implement our plan for sustainable development so that we are attractive for further investors,” said Mateusz Morawiecki, Poland’s Economy Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. “Mercedes-Benz will build modern diesel and gasoline engines at the site in Jawor. I hope that the new plant will be a catalyst for further projects with technologically advanced products and will make the Polish economy even more innovative and competitive. This investment strengthens Polish-German cooperation and is symbolic, especially in view of the 25th anniversary of the Friendship Treaty of June 17, 1991.”

The Mercedes-Benz Cars powertrain production compound

The Mercedes-Benz Cars powertrain production compound comprises several German and international sites, managed from the lead plant in Untertürkheim. Engines, transmissions, axles and related components are produced in Untertürkheim. The focus of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Berlin is on the development and production of ultramodern components and parts as well as engine production. The Mercedes-Benz plant in Hamburg develops and produces axles and axle components, steering columns, components for exhaust systems and lightweight structural parts. Mercedes-Benz invests 580 million euros in Kecskemét plant

The Hungarian Mercedes-Benz plant Kecskemét will produce the next generation of compact cars.By the end of 2015, Mercedes-Benz had invested around 1 billion euros in Kecskemét.“Kecskemét is and will remain a cornerstone of the compact vehicle production compound. Its expansion for the next generation of compact vehicles will further strengthen this role within the international production compound”, said Michael Göbel, Head of Compact Vehicle Production Mercedes-Benz Cars.The groundbreaking for the new body production hall for Mercedes-Benz compact vehicles of the next generation was joined by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó and representatives of Mercedes-Benz.

Kecskemét/Hungary – The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét will produce the next generation of Mercedes-Benz compact cars. By 2018, Daimler will invest around 580 million euros in the technological development and the expansion of the location. In addition to a new body shop, money is invested in efficient and innovative equipment. Furthermore, the factory’s capacities will be expanded once again. “Kecskemét is and will remain a cornerstone of the compact vehicle production compound. Its expansion for the next generation of compact vehicles will further strengthen this role within the international production compound”, said Michael Göbel, Head of Compact Vehicle Production at Mercedes-Benz Cars, at the groundbreaking of the new body shop. During the ceremony, Péter Szijjártó (Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs), Klaudia Szemereyné Pataki (Mayoress of the city of Kecskemét), Christian Wolff (CEO and Site Manager of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft.) and Michael Göbel buried various items of symbolic value in a time capsule along with the foundation stone.

“This investment is a clear sign of our commitment to this location, and offers good future prospects for the employees in Kecskemét,” said Christian Wolff. “We will also invest in the improvement of the ergonomic and working conditions, as well as in the qualification of the workforce.”

Around 250 million euros are spent on the new body shop, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It is being built on an area of 99,000 square meters and has been designed to let in as much daylight as possible in order to create a bright and pleasant working condition. Other parts of the plant, for example the press shop, will also be expanded as part of the total investment. Moreover, the production line will receive various adjustments and robots for surface treatment. In the final assembly section for the next generation of compact vehicles, materials will now be brought to the assembly line in pre-picked baskets of goods. This will be done completely autonomously by driverless transport vehicles with prepared baskets of goods from the logistics and picking zones. Not only does this eliminate the need for workers to go get the materials themselves but it also helps them to determine if all components have been installed since a look into the baskets at the end is all that’s needed – yet another simple and effective way to improve quality assurance. This is just one of the innovations that Mercedes-Benz will apply to other plants in the global production network as well.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét is part of the compact vehicle production compound of Mercedes-Benz Cars. In addition to Kecskemét, the production compound for the current generation of compact vehicles also includes Rastatt, Germany (as the lead plant) and BBAC in Beijing, China. Mercedes-Benz Cars also uses the Finnish contract manufacturer Valmet Automotive to produce additional A-Class cars.
