Το Διεθνές Μουσείο Κατασκοπείας ανοίγει τις πόρτες του

Το Διεθνές Μουσείο Κατασκοπείας στην πρωτεύουσα των ΗΠΑ είναι γεγονός: στην ιστορική πλατεία L’Enfant Plaza, στο νοτιοδυτικό τμήμα της Ουάσιγκτον, με γωνιώδη μαύρο όγκο, λοξές κόκκινες κολώνες και ζιγκ-ζαγκ υάλινο τοίχο.

Το διεθνές αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners σχεδίασε το δυναμικό κτίριο με στόχο να τραβήξει την προσοχή του κόσμου στην τοποθεσία, και για να είναι το κτήριο ορατό από το National Mall,

μια επιμήκη περιοχή με γκαζόν στην οποία υπάρχουν σημαντικά μνημεία όπως το Lincoln Memorial και το Washington Monument.

Με 13.006 τετραγωνικά μέτρα, αποτελείται από ένα γωνιώδες μαύρο κουτί, εγκιβωτισμένο σε έντονα κόκκινες κολώνες, ύψους 21 μέτρων. Η κτηριακή δομή «ανοίγει» προς τα έξω καθώς υψώνεται, μοιάζοντας με ανάποδο τραπέζιο. Στο εσωτερικό, 3.251 τετραγωνικά μέτρα εκθεσιακού χώρου, σε διάφορα επίπεδα. Οι επισκέπτες οδηγούνται στον τελευταίο όροφο και, στη συνέχεια, εξερευνούν το μουσείο κατεβαίνοντας. Επιπλέον, διαθέτει ειδικό εκθεσιακό χώρο, θέατρο, χώρο για μόνιμη έκθεση και χώρο για μελλοντική «Operation Spy».

«Οι πελάτες μας και ο ιδρυτής του μουσείου ήθελαν να σκεφτούμε πώς θα μπορούσαμε, με κάποιον τρόπο, να εκφράσουμε στο κτήριο την κατασκοπική δράση» εξήγησε σύμφωνα με το ΑΠΕ ο Ίβαν Χάρμπουρ, senior design partner στο αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο. «Λάβαμε υπόψη κάποια από τα λόγια του ιδρυτή: ότι η κατασκοπεία είναι μια ανθρώπινη δραστηριότητα και μία από τις πιο παλιές δραστηριότητες των ανθρώπων» πρόσθεσε.

Πάνω στο μουσείο «ακουμπά» ένα διώροφο ορθογώνιο κουτί, με παράθυρα από το πάτωμα ως το ταβάνι και μια μεγάλη βεράντα στην οροφή. Από εκεί, ανεμπόδιστη είναι η θέα προς το Washington Momument και το Καπιτώλιο, τον National Cathedral και την Basilica, το District Wharf και το National Harbour.

«Ο ιδρυτής του μουσείου έδειξε ενδιαφέρον για την ιδέα ότι μεγάλο μέρος της κατασκοπικής δραστηριότητας γίνεται σε κοινή θέα. Άρα είναι κάτι που γίνεται και δεν το συνειδητοποιείς, αλλά συμβαίνει μπροστά στη μύτη σου» είπε ο Ιβάν Χάρμπουρ. «Κι επιπροσθέτως, και σε αυτή την ιδέα, ότι δεν είναι τα πάντα ό,τι εκ πρώτης όψεως φαίνεται» κατέληξε.
