Calvin Klein και Tommy Hilfiger γυρίζουν την πλάτη στο ρατσισμό

Δύο από τα μεγαλύτερα αμερικανικά brand μόδας, Calvin Klein και Tommy Hilfiger και μεταξύ πολλών κορυφαίων παγκόσμιων οίκων μόδας γυρνάνε την πλάτη τους στον ρατσισμό, δείχνοντας έμπρακτα την αλληλεγγύη τους στο κίνημα Black Lives Matter.

Και οι δύο εταιρείες αποτελούν μέρος του PVH Corp., πρώην Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, του οποίου ο διευθύνων

σύμβουλος, Manny Chirico και ο πρόεδρός Stefan Larsso έχουν εκφράσει την απογοήτευσή τους για τους άδικους θανάτους των Τζορτζ Φλόιντ, Αμαντ Άρμπερι, Μπριόνα Τέιλορ και τις άλλες απώλειες λόγω ρατσισμού στην Αμερική.

The events of the last weeks, including the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor and the subsequent protests have served as a painful reminder of the racism and structural inequity that exists in America. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We have more and important work to do when it comes to championing a louder voice on human rights issues that affect our associates, our customers and our communities. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Our commitment is to ensure an organization where we support each other in open and honest dialogue, provide resources for further education on issues affecting our teams, practice radical empathy, and use our voice to stand up for what is right. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Calvin Klein will be making a donation to causes that support the fight against racial and social injustice, including the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund and the ACLU – a small step in recognizing that inequity is unacceptable and action is required. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the input of our community, we will continue to explore how we can fight systemic racism and injustice and stand in solidarity with the black community.

What is happening is not OK. It has never been OK. It shouldn’t have taken us this long, but today we are raising our voice and standing in solidarity to the fight against racism, white supremacy, and the historic oppression of Black Americans and ALL minorities who experience discrimination. Together with our parent company @PVHCorp, we will be making donations to organizations that support the fight against social injustice. More details are to come. We will also be more intentional about creating impact and mandating change in our own industry. When the third edition of our Fashion Frontier Challenge returns at the end of this year, we will be evolving the platform to identify and support minority entrepreneurs who aim to create a more inclusive fashion landscape. Thank you to everyone who is using their voice and dedicating their actions and resources to create change with us.

Σε δήλωση προς τα ΜΜΕ που εξέδωσαν οι Chirico και Larsso για λογαριασμό της PVH Corp, αναφέρουν:

«Ενώ τα πρόσφατα πρωτοσέλιδα του Τύπου έχουν επικεντρωθεί στις ΗΠΑ, η ανισότητα σε βάρος των περιθωριοποιημένων κοινοτήτων είναι ένα πρόβλημα σε όλο τον κόσμο – και υπήρξε έτσι σε όλη την ιστορία.

Η άμεση παγκόσμια αντίδραση να δράσουμε σε ένδειξη αλληλεγγύης προς τη μαύρη κοινότητα στην Αμερική δεν μοιάζει με τα όσα έχουμε δει έως τώρα».

«Στον PVH, καταδικάζουμε τις φυλετικές διακρίσεις. Αντιμετωπίζουμε τον συστημικό ρατσισμό που μαστίζει τη χώρα μας για πολύ καιρό. Στεκόμαστε αλληλέγγυοι στη μαύρη κοινότητα. Black Lives Matter. Αυτή δεν πρέπει να είναι μία αμφιλεγόμενη ή διχαστική δήλωση. Είναι μια παγκόσμια αλήθεια. Και μέχρι να αντιμετωπίζεται με αυτόν τον τρόπο, o PVH θα συνεχίσει να εργάζεται προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση» υπογραμμίζεται στην ανακοίνωση.

Σημειώνεται τέλος ότι ο όμιλος θα διαθέσει 100.000 δολάρια στο Ταμείο Νομικής Προστασίας και Εκπαίδευσης της Εθνικής Ένωσης για την Πρόοδο των Έγχρωμων Ατόμων (NAACP) που έχει στόχο την επίτευξη διαρθρωτικών αλλαγών για την προώθηση της δημοκρατίας, την εξάλειψη των ανισοτήτων και τη φυλετική δικαιοσύνη.
