We sat up in bed and made a tasks list this morning; millstones like "sort recycling" and "chip ice mountain out of freezer." Then, feeling unequal to the whole thing, we stayed put with our tea and I started reading The Light Years by Elizabeth Jane Howard (brilliant). Hours later the husband has flicked on the Christmas music and unwrapped a glorious panforte and marzipan oranges (both posted down south from @bettys1919 in Harrowgate). The freezer door still won't open. A perfect day. . PS: thank you to @sarahgraceperry for the wonderful article she wrote about Howard for the winter issue of @foxedquarterly; it bumped The Light Years to the top of my nightstand stack.
