Greek stocks end 3.44 pct lower‏

Greek stocks came under strong selling pressure in the Athens Stock Exchange on Monday, pushing the composite index of the market down towards the 1,200-point level. The index ended at 1,207.82 points, losing 3.44 pct, extending a losing streak for the eighth

successive session during which it has lost 10.73 pct. Turnover remained a heavy 149.33 million euros.

The Large Cap index fell by 3.35 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 3.02 pct lower. National Bank’s shares were at the focus of selling activity losing 12.13 pct, hit by reports of a forthcoming share capital increase plan.

Coca-Cola HBC (0.90 pct) and Titan (0.09 pct) were the only blue chip stocks to end higher, while National Bank (12.13 pct), MIG (6.61 pct), Motor Oil (6.15 pct), Frigoglass (5.25 pct) and OTE (5.23 pct) suffered the heaviest percentage losses of the day.

The Media (2.89 pct) and Food (0.85 pct) sectors scored gains, while Banks (5.28 pct), Telecoms (5.23 pct) and Utilities (4.75 pct) suffered losses.

Broadly, decliners led advancers by 97 to 35, with another 17 issues unchanged. Sidma (20 pct), Sato (19.70 pct) and Pasal (19.29 pct) were top gainers, while Kepenou Mills (30 pct), Parnassos (19.82 pct) and Dionic (19.59 pct) were top losers.
