In an announcement, Staikouras said that the Greek state has met funding demands worth 4.6 billion euros in the period from December to June, accounting for 85 pct of all ministries’ demands, while demands worth 800 million euros were currently in their last stage of approval. Payments totalled 570 million euros

in June, while the total amount of payments distributed to the real economy totalled 3.4 billion euros by the end of June.
These payments covered a lump payment for 13,531 civil servants, 81 pct of all outstanding debt of the Army Pension Fund and all military hospitals and 65 pct of debt by all state hospitals (750.3 million euros out of a total outstanding debt of 1.1 billion euros).
Staikouras noted, however, that the health sector continued creating outstanding debt and said that the government was working towards resolving this problem. He said that the IMF had offered technical assistance and noted that immediate, legislative or not, intervention was necessary.
