Greece reports 1.566 bln euro primary surplus in Jan-March

Greece’s state budget posted a 1.566 billion euro primary surplus in the first quarter of the year, compared to 520 million euros primary surplus in the corresponding period of 2013, according to data released by Alternate Finance Minister Christos Staikouras.
The reading was also far above the 878-million-euro target for the January-March period.
Staikouras commenting on the budget data, said: "The good execution of the state budget continues. Greece overshoots its fiscal targets for a third consecutive year and achieves primary surpluses for the second consecutive year."
