EU Health ministers' informal meeting at Zappeio

The effects of the economic crisis on health care and the challenges the European health systems will face because of migration are the key issues to be discussed at the informal meeting of EU health ministers on Monday and Tuesday

The Health ministers will discuss the need to create databases for immigrants and whether there should be a statistical study at European level, in order to have an accurate assessment of the situation in the EU and each member state. They will also discuss the necessary, at European level, additional actions to strengthen public health systems in those countries most exposed to migratory flows.

During the informal meeting, the Greek presidency will also refer to the benefits of e-health solutions for patients, the health system, the society, as well as development, competitiveness, health cost reduction, ensuring the sustainability of healthcare systems and maintaining the quality of services to a desired level.
