1 million tax evasion scandal rocks Mykonos

In a shocking revelation, a prominent artist along with two businessmen have been implicated in a major case of tax evasion in Mykonos.

The trio, shareholders of a lucrative real estate company, are accused of failing to report substantial income to the Greek tax authorities. Their identities have not been disclosed.

The Independent Authority for Public Revenues flagged the tax breaches, uncovering discrepancies topping 1 million euros in tax evasion.

Investigations revealed that in 2020 and 2021, the individuals received considerable sums from the company without declaring them.

The renowned artist and his associates, who have a strong presence in the Attica catering industry, are now facing a hefty tax bill. For the fiscal year 2020, the artist owes €261,000, while the businessmen are liable for €268,000 and €162,000 respectively.

The following year, tax liabilities, including surcharges, reached €115,000 for each of the first two shareholders and €82,000 for the third.

In all, the artist must settle more than €376,000 in unpaid taxes, with the businessmen owing €383,000 and €244,000 each. The cumulative 1 million euros amount underscores the scope and severity of their evasion.

With the tax audit in full swing, the authorities look poised to also slap the alleged offenders with stinging fines.
