Στο χωριό Μπαρίσα που κατά πληροφορίες βρίσκεται σε μικρή απόσταση από τα σύνορα Τουρκίας-Συρίας πραγματοποιήθηκε κατά πληροφορίες η επιχείρηση με στόχο τον αρχηγό του Ισλαμικού Κράτους που, όπως μεταδίδουν αμερικανικά ΜΜΕ, είχε ως αποτέλεσμα τον θάνατο του Αμπού Μπακρ αλ Μπαγκντάντι.

Δημοσιογράφος του NBC, του δικτύου που μετέδωσε από τα πρώτα την είδηση για τον θάνατο του αλ Μπαγκντάντι, ανήρτησε στο Twitter του φωτογραφίες

I’ve been to Barisha area where US officials are confident American special ops killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. It’s a smuggling area, has been for a long time. If you’re there, it’s likely for one reason: to cross the border illegally, into or out of Turkey.
