Turks will shoot down UAVs with a domestic missile system

The Turkish army has started training to work with the new Turkish anti-aircraft missile system for low and medium altitudes Hisar. Milliyet announced the start of the training process, which began in late April.

The Hisar and Hisar-O anti-aircraft missile systems

are 80% developed in Turkey and are under the auspices of the Balkan Defense Ministry. These air defense systems are designed to detect and shoot down military aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, uncrewed aerial vehicles, and air-to-surface missiles.

The Turkish ground forces have already received the necessary simulation equipment to be integrated into natural air defense systems. The simulations will last several months until the complete training of the operators. Milliyet reports that the simulations at this stage will be only digital-digital, as real weapons will be an expensive expense for the Turkish army.

Hisar expects to be on combat duty soon, with the anti-aircraft missile system becoming part of the Turkish state’s overall air defense line.

The first days of the training began with playing out different air threats and responses from the Turkish army with developed possible situations.

What is the Hissar anti-aircraft missile system?

Hisar is a Turkish-made missile system with low and medium range. It was developed by the Turkish company Aselsan, which produced ground equipment such as radar, command control, fire control system, missile launch systems, communication systems, IFF, and data connection.

Another Turkish company, Roketsan, is the missile supplier for the air defense system. These missiles are infrared and RF search engines and data communication equipment.

Hisar must deal with the successful neutralization of threats coming from the air, regardless of the aircraft. These threats include helicopters, drones, and planes, as well as air-to-surface missiles.

According to sources from Asselsan, Hissar is an open-air anti-aircraft missile system, which allows in the future to add different functions and technologies as needed. Hissar will be integrated on the ground among the ground forces and in the water among the Turkish navy.
