Greek Health Authorities Express Concern over Surge of New Coronavirus Variant ‘Eris’

Greek health authorities have raised concerns about the rapid increase of a new coronavirus variant, codenamed 'Eris' (EG.5.1), which has been classified as a 'variant of epidemiological interest' by the World Health Organization. The variant is currently most prevalent in Crete, with a total of 41 new cases confirmed between May 31 and July 27.
