Ένα γλυπτό που «τραγουδά» με το φύσημα του ανέμου

Μέσα στο δασύλλιο ευκαλύπτων στο κτήμα Donum -τον οινοπαραγωγό πινό νουάρ στη Σονόμα της Καλιφόρνιας-, όπου φιλοξενείται μια τεράστια συλλογή σύγχρονων γλυπτών, ο Doug Aitken παρουσίασε το τελευταίο έργο του. Το «Sonic Mountain Sonoma» μιμείται ένα γιγαντιαίο chimes το οποίο «τραγουδά» με το φύσημα του ανέμου.

«Ήθελα να δημιουργήσω ένα έργο τέχνης που ζει, ένα έργο που θα αλλάζει συνεχώς, ένα έργο που το φυσικό περιβάλλον θα το παίζει» εξομολογείται ο Αμερικανός καλλιτέχνης.

Στη συλλογή έργων τέχνης στο Κτήμα Donum,  όπως αναφέρει το ΑΠΕ,

περιλαμβάνονται έργα τα οποία ενσωματώνονται πλήρως στους κυματιστούς λοφίσκους με τους αμπελώνες -μεταξύ αυτών, έργα των Ai Wei Wei, Yayoi Kusama, Elmgreen & Dragset και Jaume Plensa.

Sonic Mountain Sonoma a large wind chime installation by Doug Aitken an international renown artist. The installation is located on the Donum Estate winery’s eucalyptus grove. Aitken describes the art as a living piece that will be changing continuously as it’s played by nature. Sonic Mountain features two concentric circles dangling polished steel rods that emit chiming sounds. The Donum Estate – the award winning Pinot Noir producer featuring a monumental sculpture collection – is delighted to announce the design of a newly commissioned artwork by Los Angeles-based artist Doug Aitken. – Aitken’s site-specific work will be unveiled later this year within the estate’s lush eucalyptus grove. Mimicking a wind chime, the work will respond to changes in the surrounding environment, this large-scale sculpture (9 ft 6 inches x 45 ft x 45 ft) exists in the landscape, creating moments where it will be silent and other times creating hypnotic sounds as the wind moves through the installation. – Donum winery was established in 2001, and since 2015, the estate has presented large-scale sculptures throughout its 200-acre vineyard, interspersed with 150-year-old olive trees, bee-hives and an organic farm. – Image: Rendering courtesy of the Artist – #TheDonumEstate #DougAitken

Τώρα, προστέθηκε ένα έργο το οποίο επιζητά να εξερευνήσει τη ρευστότητα του χρόνου, γεννώντας μια εμπειρία που μεταβάλλεται από την ίδια τη φύση.

«Είναι τιμή να εργάζεσαι με καλλιτέχνες σαν τον Doug, ο οποίος ανταποκρίθηκε σε κάθε λεπτομέρεια του τοπίου του Donum και δημιούργησε μια εμπειρία που επισύρει την προσοχή μας στα στοιχεία της φύσης τα οποία δίνουν ζωή στο κρασί και την τέχνη» τόνισαν οι ιδιοκτήτες του Κτήματος Donum, Allan και Mei Warburg.

«Ξέρω ότι θα περάσω πολλές μέρες ακούγοντας το υπνωτικό σάουντρακ που ο Doug συνέθεσε σε συνεργασία με τη φύση» είπε ο Allan Warburg.
