Venizelos in Montreux for Geneva II talks on Syria

Before the start of the conference, Ban Ki-moon met with Venizelos and thanked him for his intervention on Tuesday allowing a Syrian aeroplane carrying the Middle East country’s delegation to the talks to stop in Athens for re-fuelling.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Venizelos had a series of meetings with his counterparts of the United States, Russia, Germany, Egypt, France and Kuwait and with the representative of the Holy See (Vatican).

The conference is expected to be concluded on Wednesday evening, while Venizelos’ intervention is scheduled to take place after lunch.
