Archbishop Ieronymos to fly to Cephalonia with National Defence staff

The archbishop and the general will fly on a C-27J, which will be joined by a C-130 carrrying personnel, including three doctors, machinery (bulldozers) and equipment like tents and other basic needs to the island. A Chinook helicopter will also bring staff to the island while another will be placed on readiness.

Ikaria will bring bulldozers, a truck, a generator, and a light tower, a portable cooking unit and staff for it, and a water-tank truck, while another Chinook has been placed on readiness.
The Defkalion project was activated earlier in the day by National Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos, who is constantly updating the prime minister.
Cephalonia suffered a major earthquake on January 26 and another this morning (Monday), including several aftershocks in-between. There are no casualties, but damages are extensive and about a dozen people were reported to have been slightly injured by falling objects but released from hospital.
