Ministry reports acceleration of disciplinary procedures in the public sector

A total of 2,113 public sector employees are under investigation for disciplinary infringements and 960 of them have been temporarily suspended from duty pending hearings in court or before a disciplinary board on their case, according to an announcement by the administrative reform & e-governance ministry on Monday.

The ministry noted that the acceleration of disciplinary procedures was proved in practice, given that a total of 1,015 decisions in disciplinary proceedings have already been issued since the beginning of the year.

A total of 226 public sector employees have been laid off for serious criminal and disciplinary reasons between July 2012 and September 2013.
