Greece and Cyprus Ink 33.5 Million Euro Deal for Cross-Border Projects

Greece and Cyprus have signed financing agreements for 20 new cross-border projects totaling 33.5 million euros ($36.4 million), aimed at bolstering resilience, sustainability, and social cohesion across their regions.

Alternate FinanceMinister Nikos Papathanasis formalized the agreements within theframework of the INTERREG VI-A Greece-Cyprus Cooperation Program2021-2027.

In total, 88entities are participating in these initiatives, with 47 from Greeceand 41 from Cyprus.

A comprehensive setof cross-border actions is now fully underway and is expected to becompleted within the next two years.

The operations arebeing implemented in Crete, the North Aegean, the South Aegean, andacross Cyprus. These projects seek to jointly address sharedchallenges, primarily focusing on critical areas such as energyefficiency and green energy development, climate resilience andnatural disaster management, protection of nature and biodiversitywith the integration of digital monitoring tools, and enhancingaccessibility, culture, and social inclusion.
