Turkish ‘Daltons’ Gang Members Arrested in Athens Suburb Shooting

Greek authorities have arrested three Turkish nationals linked to the notorious "Daltons" gang following a brazen daylight shooting in the coastal suburb of Nea Makri, officials have said.

The arrests by the Organized Crime Directorate follow a March 3 shootout outside a supermarket on the busy Marathonos Avenue.

Investigators say the suspects—a driver and two alleged

gunmen—are part of a violent criminal network that has increasingly used Greek territory to settle internal Turkish gang disputes.

A fourth accomplice remains at large, with police tracking his movements in northern Greece.

The suspects face charges of attempted homicide and weapons violations.

During the raids, officers recovered a cache of ammunition and digital evidence linking the men to the Daltons, a gang known for high-profile hits and racketeering across Europe.

"This group has shown a total disregard for public safety, conducting hits in crowded areas," a police spokesperson said.

A fourth Turkish national was also detained during the operation on unrelated immigration charges.

The incident has heightened security concerns in Athens regarding the spillover of foreign organized crime. It follows the 2023 "Loutsa Massacre," where six members of a rival Turkish gang were executed in a similar seaside suburb.

Mr. Michalis Chrysochoidis, the minister of Public Order, has ordered increased surveillance of foreign nationals with suspected ties to international syndicates to prevent Greece from becoming a "battleground for foreign vendettas."
