Ruling Party Holds 15-Point Lead Over PASOK in New Greek Poll

Greece's ruling New Democracy party holds a commanding 15-percentage-point lead over the main opposition PASOK party, according to a new poll conducted after the prime minister's recent policy announcements in Thessaloniki.

The Pulse survey for SKAI

channel shows New Democracy at 29% compared to PASOK's 14%.

The poll, conducted from Sept. 14-16, is the latest to gauge the political climate following the Thessaloniki International Fair.

Public reaction to the economic measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was split, with 44% of respondents saying the policies are moving in the "right direction" and 45% saying they are moving in the "wrong direction."

The poll also found little public appetite for a new political party led by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, with a combined 58% of respondents expressing indifference or negative feelings toward the prospect. His former party, Syriza, polled at 7%.

Other parties in the poll included the Course of Freedom at 10.5%, Greek Solution at 9.5%, and the Communist Party (KKE) at 8.5%.
