Paros Emerges as Top Luxury Hotspot, Attracting Affluent Tourists Beyond Peak Season

The Greek island of Paros is rapidly gaining ground as a premium travel destination, increasingly drawing affluent visitors even during off-peak months and earning international recognition for its upscale appeal. Recent data from international tourism analysts confirm the island's growing status

in the luxury market.

A standout acknowledgment came from UK-based tour operator CV Villas, which ranked Paros sixth in its list of Europe’s top 20 lesser-known luxury destinations for 2025—the highest placement for a Greek location.

The ranking was based on a "Luxury Index" that evaluated travel reviews for frequency of the word “luxury,” overall sentiment, and review volume.

Paros specifically stood out for its refined architecture, authentic cuisine, and high-end accommodations.

The shift toward high-income tourism is further backed by fresh booking data. Ferry ticket platform Ferryscanner reports that between January 1 and May 31, Paros ranked second in popularity among U.S. travelers and first among British tourists.

The data suggest that Americans are primarily drawn to Greek destinations that offer tranquility, while Britons are increasingly exploring the country’s lesser-known islands for their getaways.

Visitor spending projections for 2025 reinforce Paros’s appeal to well-heeled travelers. According to an Ipsos survey commissioned by Visa, American tourists plan to spend an average of 3,040 euros per person on trips to Greece this year, while British travelers will spend around 1,900 euros and French tourists approximately 2,550 euros.

Seasonal preferences also vary: Americans favor July, the British lean toward May and June, and the French typically prefer September for their visits.

Paros’s deputy mayor for tourism, Thodoris Bizas, attributed the island’s rising profile to a targeted strategy aimed not only at increasing arrivals but also boosting tourism revenue throughout the year.

"Our focus on attracting high-quality tourism, even outside traditional summer peaks, is producing measurable results," Mr. Bizas said.

"We will continue working with local hospitality and dining professionals to raise the bar and meet growing demand for luxury experiences."
