Greek Government Says Food Inflation Remains Lowest in Eurozone

Food inflation in Greece has remained close to zero in recent months, the lowest in the eurozone, according to official data from Eurostat, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said.

Mr. Marinakis noted that the prices of frozen goods, which see high demand during Lent, are the same or lower than last year.

He urged consumers to compare prices carefully to avoid overpaying.

The General Secretariat of Trade at the Ministry of Development has also advised consumers to be vigilant about market prices.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s inspection services will continue conducting thorough market checks and imposing steep fines on businesses found violating market or consumer protection laws, Mr. Marinakis said.
