Greece grips with torrential rain

Greece is currently in the throes of an intense weather front battering regions across the country with heavy rainfall.

Meteorologists haveidentified six areas to be hardest hit:

Eastern Thessaly Sporades Islands, mainly Skiathos and Skopelos Southern Pieria Northern Euboea Phthiotis region in the north Eastern Aegean Islands, especially Chios and Lesbos

In the capital cityof Athens, heavy rains persists while mountainous regions have seensnowfall with temperatures dropping -2 degrees Celsius.

The Pelion regionhas faced large disruptions with massive floodings.

Leading experts havealready expressed concerns about the volume of water predicted tofall in Thessaly, as heavy rainfall is due to grip the region throughSaturday.
