African dust, heat to grapple Greece

Greece braces for a significant shift in weather, moving from a bout of storms to a mix of high temperatures and haze of African dust.

The change is set to commence on Monday, when dust clouds sweeping in from the Sahara will begin covering large swathes of Greece, according to experts.

The dust will be most pronounced on Tuesday in the western and northern regions of the country. On Wednesday, experts say it will affect the Aegean and eastern continental areas.

The weather shift will also precipitate a fresh highs, especially on Tuesday, with temperatures shooting up 13 degrees Celsius above average for this time of year.

The National Meteorological Service (EMY) has forecast limited visibility on Monday due to the African dust cloud.
