H Porsche ξεκίνησε την παραγωγή της 718 Cayman στο εργοστάσιό της στο Zuffenhausen της Γερμανίας. Το μοντέλο αποκτά φρέσκια εμφάνιση, με το εμπρός μέρος είναι πιο “αρρενωπό” χάρη στους μεγαλύτερους αεραγωγούς και τη νέα, πιο “γλυπτή φόρμα” ενώ κοιτάζοντας το μοντέλο στα “μάτια”, παρατηρεί κανείς τα νέα,

bi-xenon φωτιστικά σώματα με ενσωματωμένα LED φώτα ημέρας – φυσικά είναι διαθέσιμα πλήρως LED φωτιστικά σώματα. Στα πλαϊνά, ξεχωρίζουν οι μεγαλύτεροι αεραγωγοί ενώ το πίσω μέρος έχει πλατύτερη όψη εν μέρει χάρη στην διακοσμητική λωρίδα ανάμεσα στα φωτιστικά σώματα που τονίζει το πλάτος του αυτοκινήτου. Τέλος, τα ανασχεδιασμένα πίσω φωτιστικά σώματα διαθέτουν 3D LED τεχνολογία ενώ ανασχεδιασμένες είναι και οι ζάντες ελαφρού κράματος 19 ιντσών – προαιρετικά 20 ιντσών.

Το πλαίσιο της 718 Cayman προσφέρει βελτιωμένες επιδόσεις στις στροφές, το ηλεκτρομηχανικό σύστημα διεύθυνσης είναι κατά 10% πιο άμεσο και γι’ αυτούς που επιθυμούν το κάτι παραπάνω, μπορούν να επιλέξουν το σύστημα PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) που χαμηλώνει την 718 Cayman κατά 10 χιλιοστά και –για πρώτη φορά- την 718 Cayman S κατά 20 χιλιοστά, με την διαφορά μεταξύ άνεσης και “sport” στο ενεργό chassis να είναι μεγαλύτερη. Φυσικά, προσφέρεται και το Sport Chrono Package που εκτός από τις 3 βασικές ρυθμίσεις (Normal, Sport και Sport Plus), διαθέτει μία “Individual” ρύθμιση για να προσαρμόζει ο οδηγός το αυτοκίνητο στα μέτρα του αλλά και ένα “Sport Respone Button” που βελτιώνει την απόκριση τόσο του κινητήρα, όσο και του PDK κιβωτίου.

Μηχανικά, όπως η 718 Boxster έτσι και η 718 Cayman φορά τους νέους τετρακύλινδρους, επίπεδους υπερτροφοδοτούμενους κινητήρες. Ο δίλιτρος κινητήρας της 718 Cayman, αποδίδει 300 άλογα και 380 Nm ροπής από τις 1.950 έως τις 4.500 σ.α.λ. ενώ ο κινητήρας των 2.5 λίτρων της 718 Cayman S, αποδίδει 350 άλογα και 420 Nm ροπής από τις 1.900 έως τις 4.500 σ.α.λ. Οι κινητήρες συνδυάζονται είτε με ένα 6-τάχυτο, μηχανικό κιβώτιο, είτε με το Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe αυτόματο. Με το PDK και το Sport Chrono Package, τα πρώτα 100 km/h έρχονται σε 4,7 δευτερόλεπτα για την 718 Cayman και σε 4,2 για το ισχυρότερο αδερφάκι της ενώ οι τελικές ταχύτητες των μοντέλων είναι 275 και 285 χλμ/ώρα αντίστοιχα. Σύμφωνα με τη Γερμανική εταιρία δε, η μέση κατανάλωση δεν ξεπερνά τα 6.9 λίτρα ανά 100 χιλιόμετρα ενώ ο 2.5-λιτρος της “S” χρειάζεται 7.3 λίτρα ανά 100 χιλιόμετρα.

Στο εσωτερικό υπάρχουν νέοι αεραγωγοί, νέο τιμόνι και το νέο σύστημα ενημέρωσης και ψυχαγωγίας PCM. Στη Γερμανία η Porsche 718 Cayman ξεκινά από τα 53.900 ευρώ και η 718 Cayman S από τα 66.300 ευρώ, με τις πρώτες παραδόσεις γίνονται από τον Σεπτέμβριο.

Porsche to produce all two-door sports cars at its headquarters

Successful production launch of the new Porsche 718 Cayman

Stuttagrt. Porsche is celebrating a milestone in its over 75-year history in Zuffenhausen. The company will soon be producing all two-door sports cars at its headquarters with the successful production launch of the third generation of the 718 Cayman mid-engine sport coupé that will be produced at this Stuttgart plant that is steeped in tradition. Until mid-August, the company will continue to use its production capacities at the Volkswagen plant in Osnabrück, where the mid-engine sport coupé’s previous generation has been manufactured so far.

“The production launch of the Cayman successor models was executed to our full satisfaction,” says Albrecht Reimold, Executive Board Member for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG.” After the successful launches of the new 911 at the end of last year and of the new 718 Boxster in spring 2016, the team in Zuffenhausen also handled this production launch impeccably. This is further proof that our employees work with perfection and passion on a daily basis to enable a very special Porsche experience for our customers.”

Manufacturing of all two-door sports cars at the Porsche headquarters will ramp up production there to around 240 vehicles per day by August. Currently, more than 220 units come off the assembly line each day in Zuffenhausen. In business year 2015, Porsche delivered 22,663 vehicles of the Boxster and Cayman models (2014: 23,597 units). Reimold: “After production had naturally declined based on the product life cycle, we now have a great deal of confidence in the new generation of our mid-engine sports cars.”

The current generation of the mid-engine sports cars is characterised by more power output combined with better fuel economy thanks to the newly developed four-cylinder flat engines with turbocharging. For the first time, the Coupé and Roadster will have the same engine power levels. The entry-level version starts at 220 kW (300 hp) from two litres of engine displacement. The sportier S-models develop 257 kW (350 hp) from 2.5 litres of displacement. That is 18 kW (25 hp) more power than in the previous models, and their NEDC fuel consumption figures range from 8.1 to 6.9 litres per 100 kilometres.

The new 718 Boxster has been at Porsche dealerships since the end of April 2016. The 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S can be ordered now; their market launch begins at the end of September 2016 in Europe.
