Το SUV της Rolls Royce αποκτά το σώμα του

Η Rolls Royce έδωσε σήμερα τις πρώτες φωτογραφίες από το επόμενο στάδιο του Project Cullinan, ή αλλιώς του SUV της που δεν θα είναι SUV. Από αυτές βλέπουμε πως επιτέλους η βρετανική εταιρία έχει τοποθετήσει το σώμα παραγωγής έτσι ώστε από αύριο να βγούνε τα μουλάρια δοκιμών στους δημόσιους δρόμους, στους αμμόλοφους της Μέσης Ανατολής αλλά και στα χιόνια του Αρκτικού Κύκλου για τις απαραίτητες

Αυτά θα εφοδιάζονται με το ολοκαίνουργιο σύστημα ανάρτησης της εταιρίας “all-wheel drive”, το νέο σύστημα τετρακίνησης καθώς και την νέα αλουμινένια αρχιτεκτονική πάνω στην οποία θα κατασκευαστούν όλες οι νέες Rolls-Royce από το 2018 και μετά.

Σύμφωνα με την Rolls Royce το μοντέλο της θα είναι το καλύτερο του κόσμου και όπως έχει δηλώσει παλαιότερα ο επικεφαλής παγκόσμιας επικοινωνίας της εταιρίας Andrew Boyle:

Το project Cullinan; Εμείς το αποκαλούμε όχημα υψηλής απόστασης. Το SUV δεν είναι απαραίτητα το σωστό να το ονομάσουμε, γιατί δεν θα είναι κατ ‘ανάγκην sport, δεν είναι κατ’ ανάγκη “χρήσιμο”. (σ.σ. από την ετοιμολογία S(port) U(tility) V(ehicle).

Αυτό σημαίνει ότι δεν θα έχει άμεσο ανταγωνιστή τη Bentley Bentayga, με τον Boyle να συνεχίζει:

Μια σειρά από άλλες μάρκες εισέρχονται σε αυτήν την κατηγορία, με τις δικές τους ερμηνείες για το τι είναι ένα πολυτελές SUV. Θα πρέπει να περιμένετε να δείτε το τι θα αποφασίσουμε πως θα πρέπει να είναι, αλλά νομίζω ότι θα διαπιστώσετε ότι αυτό θα είναι μια διαφορετική ερμηνεία σε σχέση με το τι είναι διαθέσιμο σήμερα.

Η ιδέα μίας Rolls-Royce που χρησιμοποιείται ως καθημερινό αυτοκίνητο ακόμα και σε κακούς δρόμους ήταν ελκυστική και έδωσε μία κατεύθυνση στους μηχανικούς και τους σχεδιαστές.

PROJECT CULLINAN TAKES NEXT STEP IN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

In an open letter published in the Financial Times on 18 February 2015, Rolls-Royce undertook to regularly inform its stakeholders about the progress of Project Cullinan. Continuing this dialogue, which has seen twice-yearly updates, Rolls-Royce today publishes photographs depicting the latest key milestone in the development programme of this new ‘all-terrain, high-sided vehicle’. This first full development vehicle will begin testing in public from tomorrow.

The world’s leading luxury goods brand has regularly informed its patrons about this painstaking development programme. Advocates of the marque have been shown the first engineering mule built for the development of the new all-wheel drive suspension system, as well as those created to test the all-new aluminium architecture that will underpin all Rolls-Royces from 2018 onwards.

This latest development vehicle will travel to numerous locations around the world in a challenging testing programme to ensure that the end product will be ‘Effortless … Everywhere’. Just after Christmas, for example, Project Cullinan will enter the Arctic Circle to undergo cold weather durability and traction testing. Later in 2017, it will travel to the Middle East to endure the highest of temperatures and challenging desert conditions.
