The award-winning Mazda CX-5 gets even better

Leverkusen, 28 February 2013. In the spirit of non-stop improvement, Mazda is about to make its outstanding CX-5 a little bit more attractive with a series of drivability, design and functionality enhancements.

Never resting on its laurels, Mazda is adding a kickdown switch to its award-winning compact SUVs with SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmissions. Using a kickdown detent, it helps drivers prevent unwanted downshifts or initiate faster ones when more torque is desired. The CX-5’s engines, meanwhile, are now even more free-revving than ever thanks to an enhanced power train control module. The tachometers have been updated accordingly with higher redlines*.

Advancements to the CX-5 interior were also undertaken with a focus on letting the driver concentrate on operating the vehicle. The enhanced Bluetooth functionality** available for the audio system includes a voice command feature for music management as well as display and readout capability for email and SMS received via a Bluetooth-connected smartphone. The stylish new silver accent for the audio panel button** likewise improves usability by making it easier to locate. Robust vinyl door armrests, finally, have been added on models with fabric upholstery to improve durability.

Soul Red, now being introduced on the all-new Mazda6 as perhaps the world’s most emotionally appealing red, will soon be available for the company’s CX-5, too. It was specially developed using a unique process. By combining two different base coats, Mazda has come up with a deep, intensive red that seems to radiate from within when lit up, in contrast to its blackish appearance where shaded. Soul Red thus emphasises the compact SUV’s stunning lines. It will join three other new body colours for the Mazda CX-5: Stormy Blue, Meteor Grey and Jet Black.

Launched in 2012 as the company’s all-new compact SUV, the Mazda CX-5 is the first model to feature the complete range of Mazda’s new ultra-efficient lightweight SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY along with the stunning “KODO – Soul of Motion” design. The winning combination of class-beating fuel economy, fun-to-drive Mazda performance and safety along with one of the most comfortable and flexible interiors in its segment have made the CX-5 incredibly popular with consumers and media across the world. Sales thus far have smashed expectations.
