Η Lister παρουσίασε το πρώτο “νέο” Knobbly roadster

Ένα σχεδόν μήνα μετά το θάνατο του Brian Lister, ιδρυτή της Lister Cars και σχεδόν ενάμιση χρόνο από τότε ανακοινώθηκε η συγχώνευση των George Lister Engineering, Brian Lister Light Engineering και Lister Storm σε μία εταιρία με την επωνυμία Lister Motor Company Limited,

Το αυτοκίνητο γιορτάζει την 60η επέτειο από την ίδρυση της θρυλικής Lister Cars, με τη νεοσύστατη εταιρία να κατασκευάσει τη νέα έκδοση του πιο γνωστού της αγωνιστικού, του 1958 Lister-Jaguar Knobbly.

Το νέο Knobbly κατασκευάστηκε στις ακριβείς τεχνικές προδιαγραφές του αυθεντικού, με το αλουμινένιο αμάξωμα να είναι εξ ολοκλήρου χειροποίητο, ενώ το αυτοκίνητο προσφέρεται τόσο σε αγωνιστική έκδοση, όσο και σε “πολιτική”. Δύο συνδυασμοί κινητήρα-κιβωτίου είναι διαθέσιμοι. Στον πρώτο, ο 3.8 λίτρων εξακύλινδρος εν σειρά κινητήρας της Jaguar, αποδίδει 330 ίππους και 400 Nm ροπής και συνδυάζεται με ένα 4-τάχυτο κιβώτιο, επίσης της Jaguar. Πληροί τους κανονισμούς της FIA για ιστορικούς αγώνες, ενώ επιταχύνει από τα 0-96 χλμ/ώρα σε 4,3 δευτ, με την τελική ταχύτητα να φτάνει τα 300+ χλμ/ώρα.

Στον δεύτερο, ο 4.6 λίτρων V8 της Chevrolet, αποδίδει 315 άλογα και 393 Nm ροπής και συνδυάζεται με ένα 4-τάχυτο κιβώτιο της ίδιας εταιρίας. Το Knobbly με τον V8 διαθέτει και ελαφρώς διαφορετικό αμάξωμα για να χωρέσει ο κινητήρας.

Στην αγωνιστική μορφή του, το 2014 Lister Knobbly θα κοστίζει 249.000 λίρες (304.000€) και θα έχει πιστοποίηση για αγώνες ιστορικών. Η έκδοση δρόμου από την άλλη, θα κοστίζει 259.000 λίρες (316.000€).

Lister Cars’ reborn ‘Knobbly’ racer has made its public debut at Autosport International at the NEC Birmingham.

Celebrating Lister’s 60th anniversary, the reborn ‘Knobbly’ is built to the very same specification as the original 1958 ‘Knobbly’, using the late Brian Lister’s original drawings and manufacturing jigs. It is powered by a race-prepared Jaguar D-Type 3.8-litre straight-six, producing 330bhp.

All ‘Knobbly’ models are built at Lister Cars’ Cambridge factory to meet relevant FIA racing regulations, with owners able to compete in a series of Lister historic race meetings planned during 2015. Despite following an original design laid out more than 55 years ago, the reborn ‘Knobbly’ has performance to match modern sports cars; it can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 181mph.

Lister Cars has already received an overwhelming response to its limited run and the 10 cars are now sold out. As a result, Lister Cars is considering building a further three individual final edition models, each of which will celebrate the remarkable competition history of the famous ‘Knobbly’.

“With the limited run of ten cars now sold out, we are looking at creating three individual special final editions, each giving a distinct nod to the incredible racing heritage of the ‘Knobbly’.

“With the recent sad passing of our founder Brian Lister, we could not think of a better way to honour his memory than by continuing his legacy.”
