GP Μονακό 2014 – Τι δεν χρειάζεται να ξέρεις

Μόλις δύο εβδομάδες πέρασαν από το Ισπανικό GP και όμως οι άχρηστες χρήσιμες πληροφορίες που όλοι περιμένουν με ανυπομονησία είναι αρκετές. Βασικά δεν είναι και τόσες πολλές και σίγουρα τα ευτράπελα μετά το Μονακό θα είναι περισσότερα, αλλά λέμε τώρα.

Σύμφωνα λοιπόν με το SportsPro, ο Lewis Hamilton είναι στη πρώτη θέση των 50 αθλητών με τη μεγαλύτερη ζήτηση, όσον αφορά το μάρκετινγκ (branding του αθλητή δηλαδή). Το αθλητικό περιοδικό, χρησιμοποιώντας έναν επιστημονικό τρόπο υπολογισμού που

Παρόλο που μου φάνηκε περίεργο, ο λόγος είναι απλός. Η λίστα, που υπολογίζεται με την επιστημονική μέθοδο DBI, προβλέπει την επόμενη τριετία πόσο θα αξίζει κάθε αθλητής, βάση του πόσο διάσημος είναι ο/η σύντροφός του, τις αγορές κάποιον χωρών που μεγαλώνουν, πόσο πρόθυμος είναι κάποιος να προωθήσει τον εαυτό του κτλ. Τα τελευταία 2 χρόνια στην πρώτη θέση ήταν ο Neymar, ενώ το 2011πρώτος ήταν ο ταχύτερος άνθρωπος του κόσμου, Usain Bolt.

Τώρα πόσο ακριβής είναι η μέθοδος; Μπορεί ο καθένας να βγάλει το δικό του επιστημονικό συμπέρασμα. Το ίδιο το SportsPro αναφέρει:

Η κατάταξη δεν είναι επιστημονική, παρότι έχουν ληφθεί υπόψη αρκετά δεδομένα στον υπολογισμό της. Είναι μια υποκειμενική εκτίμηση βάση της γνώμης ειδικών, συμβουλές διαφόρων πηγών παγκοσμίως και ελαφριάς προφητείας!!!

Τα νέα από τη γειτονική μας χώρα και την Ferrari φαίνονται θετικά… για το 2015. Όπως μας έχει συνηθίσει τα τελευταία χρόνια η Ιταλική ομάδα, του χρόνου θα τα πάνε καλύτερα, καθώς ο Luca Cordero di Montezemolo υποσχέθηκε πως θα ξοδέψει περισσότερα χρήματα στο δεύτερο μισό του φετινού πρωταθλήματος, για να βάλει γερές βάσεις για το 2015. Σε αυτό φυσικά βοήθησε και το καλό πρώτο τρίμηνο, όσον αφορά τις πωλήσεις των αυτοκινήτων του Maranello.

Ο Leo Turrini, ο οποίος βρέθηκε με τον πρώην Πρόεδρο της αγωνιστικής ομάδας της Ferrari, τον Stefano Domenicali, μετέφερε κάποια από τα λόγια του Ιταλού.

Την μέρα που είπα αντίο με πήραν τρεις οδηγοί τηλέφωνο. Ο Alonso, o Raikkonen και ο Vettel. Ο Fernando και ο Kimi είναι πραγματικοί φίλοι. Δεν τους έβαλα στην ίδια ομάδα για να παλεύουν για την έκτη θέση, αλλά δυστυχώς αυτό έγινε. Ίσως παραμείνω στον χώρο του αυτοκινήτου, αλλά δεν θα δουλέψω για άλλη ομάδα, είτε αυτή είναι η Caterham είτε η McLaren. Θα πήγαινα στο pit wall και θα πανηγύριζα για τους Alonso και Raikkonen, δεν θα μπορούσε να δουλέψει κάτι τέτοιο. Προτάσεις έχω αρκετές για δουλειά, δεν θα βιαστώ να διαλέξω.

Στη Βαρκελώνη δεν ξέρω τι έγινε με τα pit stop της Ferrari. Δεν είδα τον αγώνα και ίσως να μην δω και αυτόν του Μονακό. Πηγαίνω εκεί πάνω από 20 συνεχόμενα χρόνια και θυμάμαι το 2003 πως ήταν η τελευταία νίκη της Ferrari. Ήταν η πέμπτη νίκη του Schumi στο Μονακό και όλοι νομίζαμε πως θα ερχόταν και η έκτη για να ισοφαρίσει το ρεκόρ του Senna με τις έξι νίκες. Δυστυχώς η έκτη νίκη δεν ήρθε ποτέ.

Για την υγεία του ξέρω ότι και ο καθένας. Περιμένω χαρούμενα νέα, τα οποία δυστυχώς δεν έρχονται ποτέ. Καμιά φορά σκέφτομαι πως από το 2008 έως το 2013, θα ήθελα αυτόν στη Ferrari. Τουλάχιστον ένα τίτλο θα τον κέρδιζε. Μη με παρεξηγήσετε, ο Alonso έπρεπε να κερδίσει δύο, τόσο το 2010, όσο και το 2012. Το έλεγα πάντα στον Seb… και αν δεν συμφώνησε μαζί μου, υπομονή.

Παρότι συγκινητική η συνέντευξη του Domenicali, σε περίπτωση που δεν πρόκειται για τυπογραφικό λάθος του Turrini, να ενημερώσω τον Ferrarista πως ο Schumacher πήρε το 2001 την πέμπτη του νίκη στο Μονακό και όχι το 2003.

Ο Michael Schumacher όμως, δεν λείπει μόνο από τον Ιταλό, καθώς στο στάδιο Louis του Μονακό, όπου γίνεται κάθε χρόνο το καθιερωμένο ποδοσφαιρικό παιχνίδι των πιλότων της Formula 1, υπήρχε φέτος ένα πανό το οποίο έγραφε:

Michael μας λείπεις! Ανυπομονούμε να σε δούμε στο γήπεδο του χρόνου.

Στα υπόλοιπα νέα, η FIA έκλεισε συμφωνία με την EDF -κάτι σαν Γαλλική Δ.Ε.Η, αλλά με 58 πυρηνικούς αντιδραστήρες-, για την έρευνα και την αξιοποίηση της ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας στα μηχανοκίνητα σπορ. Αν αναρωτιέται κανείς για ποιόν λόγο χρησιμοποιούμε μπαταρίες και τι σχέση έχει η F1 με την οικολογία, κάτι τέτοιες συμφωνίες που περνάνε στα ψιλά γράμματα είναι η απάντηση. Σύμφωνα με τoν Bernard Salha, Ανώτερος Εκτελεστικός Αντιπρόεδρος και Διευθυντής του τμήματος Έρευνας και Ανάπτυξης -αυτός είναι τίτλος-, η συνεργασία θα προωθήσει νέες τεχνολογίες, που αφορούν την ηλεκτρική ενέργεια, σε παγκόσμια κλίμακα και θα βοηθήσει στην περεταίρω εξέλιξη τεχνολογιών, κάποιες από τις οποίες θα περάσουν και σε αυτοκίνητα δρόμου.

Η Lotus, η οποία είχε διαφημίσει αφιλοκερδώς την έκθεση του El Greco, στο GP της Ισπανίας, αυτή τη φορά κατάφερε να βρει κάποιον που να την πληρώσει, για τον αγώνα του Μονακό. Χορηγός της Βρετανικής ομάδας θα είναι η Saxo Bank, η οποία συνεργάζεται ήδη με την Lotus από την αρχή της φετινής χρονιάς.

Από την άλλη, οι οδηγοί της Force India θα είναι ντυμένοι στα μαύρα, μιας και η Ιταλική κατασκευάστρια αγωνιστικών στολών, Alpinestars, ανανέωσε το συμβόλαιό της με την Ινδική ομάδα.

Νέα συνεργασία και για την Sauber, αφού μετά την Ferrari και την McLaren, γίνεται η τρίτη ομάδα της Formula 1 που θα ασχοληθεί με τα χειμερινά αθλήματα. Στους Χειμερινούς Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες Νέων, το 2016 στη Νορβηγία, το μονό έλκηθρο που κατασκευάζει η SwissBob, θα έχει κατασκευαστεί βάση της αεροδυναμικής και μηχανολογικής μελέτης της Sauber. Όπως και στην F1, το σασί του έλκηθρου θα κατασκευαστεί με αυστηρά κριτήρια ασφαλείας και με κύριο γνώμονα την ταχύτητα.

Τα νέα από την McLaren αφορούν τον Stoffel Vandoorne, ο οποίος κατάφερε να πάρει το ειδικό δίπλωμα, που χρειάζονται οι πιλότοι της Formula 1, συμπληρώνοντας 136 γύρους στη πίστα της Βαρκελώνης. Αναρωτιέμαι αν η Βρετανική ομάδα θα χρησιμοποιήσει τον νεαρό Βέλγο και στις τελευταίες δοκιμές της χρονιάς, όπου φημολογείται πως θα φορέσει το power unit της Honda. Ο Αγωνιστικός Διευθυντής της ομάδας, Eric Boullier, όχι μόνο δεν απέρριψε τις φήμες, αλλά συμφώνησε ότι υπάρχει τέτοια πιθανότητα.

Το έχουμε σκεφτεί. Για την ώρα χρησιμοποιούμε κινητήρα Mercedes μέχρι το Άμπου Ντάμπι, οπότε δεν θα χρησιμοποιήσουμε τίποτα άλλο. Αλλά έχουμε σκεφτεί να το δοκιμάσουμε αργότερα.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of global producer and supplier of electricity, EDF, as an Official Technical Supplier for audit and research tests of propulsion, charging, and electrical safety in motor sport. EDF is a leader on research issues surrounding electric vehicles, batteries and charging systems.

The three-year agreement will promote the sharing of information and best practices between FIA and EDF technical experts on issues concerning the use and practical application of electric battery cells and packs, engines, transmission and charging systems, and infrastructure.

Welcoming the partnership, FIA President, Jean Todt, said: “I am very pleased to welcome today’s agreement with EDF which will spur innovation and collaboration on the next generation of electric vehicles. As one of the foremost companies today which carries out research on electro-mobility, EDF will bring invaluable expertise and input to our championships, allowing the FIA to further strengthen its position as a leading promoter of new technologies.”

Bernard Niclot, FIA Technical Director said: “2014 is a year of major technological revolution for the FIA’s championships with powerful hybrid engines coming into the F1 and World Endurance Championships, and the establishment of the new Formula E Championship. In this context of new technology development, EDF’s high level of technical expertise is essential and I welcome this partnership. ”

Bernard Salha, Senior Executive Vice President Head of Research & Development added: ‘’I am very glad of this agreement with FIA which enable EDF to be technically involved at the highest level of motor sport and thus to contribute to the progress of new technologies, with notably the use and promotion, at the world level, of electrical energy and perspectives of further technical evolutions, whose some of them will be also used on private cars’’.

The energy company’s involvement also includes its competence in electricity to support FIA in the development of appropriate standards and regulations for electric and hybrid racing vehicles, in particular with regard to safety and emergency training.

Finally, EDF will work with the FIA to conduct literature reviews and testing, as well as audits of those FIA Championship races where cars are either fully or partially based on electric propulsion systems.

The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (FIBT) has launched a new racing series for junior athletes featuring “mono bobs”. The company responsible for building the mono bob, SwissBob, has placed its trust in the expertise of Sauber Motorsport AG for the development of the single-design sled. The Swiss design beat off competition from six internationally renowned companies to get the green light from the FIBT.

Mono bobs are racing sleds that can be pushed off and driven by a single athlete. The FIBT envisages great potential for mono bobs in junior competition in particular. One of the early highlights for the mono bob will come in 2016, when the SwissBob sled slides into action at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer.

SwissBob AG commissioned Sauber Motorsport AG to oversee the development of the concept and the production of the monocoque. “We’re delighted that Swiss Bob AG has entrusted us with this ambitious project, and we’re proud to be able to contribute to its success,” says Monisha Kaltenborn, CEO of Sauber Motorsport AG. “Formula One and bobsleigh racing have a great deal in common, such as the aerodynamics of the bob, the physical principles underpinning the development of the chassis and the process engineering involved in the construction of the monocoque, which is new to bobsleigh,” Kaltenborn explains.

In contrast to the tubular steel chassis which has held sway in bob construction to date, the new mono bob has been designed – like a Formula One chassis – as a monocoque with a sandwich construction. Plus, the flexibility of the regulations has allowed the engineers to explore new directions with the aerodynamics, as reflected in both the dynamic styling of the mono bob and its performance. The new mono bob was victorious in its debut outing at the Swiss championships.

As in Formula One, safety is a top priority. The monocoque is a significant upgrade on a conventional construction and its aerodynamics have been honed to make this a forgiving sled if the driver makes a mistake. Added to which, the manufacturing process employed allows the engineers to ensure that each sled has an identical construction – an important factor in a race series using single-design sleds.

For four years now, Sauber Motorsport AG has also used the expertise acquired in Formula One and its technically advanced infrastructure to handle commercial projects for third parties in various arenas.
