Ferry 'Prevelis' remains in Rhodes harbour

The passenger-car ferry "Prevelis" will remain docked in Rhodes "as long as is necessary" for the shipping ministry to approve…

The ship did not carry out a scheduled journey on Sunday from Rhodes to Piraeus, stopping at the islands of Halki, Diafani, Karpathos, Kassos, Crete (Sitia and Iraklio), Anafi, Santorini and Milos, postponing it indefinitely.

Aigion Pelagos executives said the problem arose when the Transport service of the Aegean General Secretariat on the island of Lesvos was transferred to the ministry in Piraeus at the end of October, so that disbursements pending approval were returned to the ministry. Ministry officials, on their part, promised to resolve the problem as soon as possible and said that it arose as a result of the bureaucratic process.

The 'Prevelis' receives a subsidy of 60,000 euros for every return journey on its route.
