Πολυκοσμία στον Διεθνή Διαστημικό Σταθμό : Στριμώχνονται εννέα αστροναύτες

Κάπως στενάχωρα είναι αυτές τις μέρες τα πράγματα στον Διεθνή Διαστημικό Σταθμό (ISS), όπου στριμώχνονται εννέα αστροναύτες -αντί τρεις έως έξι που είναι συνήθως- από τέσσερις διαφορετικές διαστημικές υπηρεσίες (NASA, ESA, Roscomos, Εμιράτα).

Το πλήρωμα έγινε εννεαμελές από τις 25 Σεπτεμβρίου, όταν το ρωσικό «Σογιούζ» μετέφερε άλλους τρεις αστροναύτες στον ISS. Ευτυχώς την Πέμπτη 3 Οκτωβρίου τρεις από τους εννέα θα γυρίσουν στη Γη και ο σταθμός θα

Πάντως στο παρελθόν η κατάσταση είχε υπάρξει ακόμη πιο ασφυκτική, με αποκορύφωμα το 2009, όταν 13 άνθρωποι είχαν στριμωχτεί στον ISS. Την προηγούμενη φορά που είχαν συνυπάρξει ξανά εννέα αστροναύτες, ήταν το 2015.

Ο αστροναύτης που έχει αυτή τη στιγμή στραμμένα πάνω του τα φώτα της δημοσιότητας, είναι ο Χαζάα Αλί Αλμανσουρί, ο πρώτος από τα Ηνωμένα Αραβικά Εμιράτα, ο οποίος κάνει ένα σύντομο οκταήμερο πέρασμα από τον ISS (ήλθε στις 25/9 και φεύγει στις 3/10).

Διοικητής του ISS είναι σήμερα ο Ρώσος Αλεξέι Οβτσίνιν, ο οποίος θα παραδώσει τη διοίκηση στις 2 Οκτωβρίου στον Λούκα Παρμιτάνο του Ευρωπαϊκού Οργανισμού Διαστήματος. Θα είναι ο τρίτος Ευρωπαίος και ο πρώτος Ιταλός που θα διοικήσει το Διεθνή Διαστημικό Σταθμό.
