TRAVEL SUMMARY
Visitors should expect regular strikes and demonstrations. These are sometimes called at short notice and can cause disruption to public transport in and out of Greece (including air travel and ports). See Safety and Security - Local Travel - major pre-planned strikes. 
On 1 August Greek police at Heraklion Airport in Crete used teargas during a demonstration by taxi drivers outside the airport. Visitors are advised to exercise caution when using the airport and to follow advice given by their Tour Operators.
