R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman (Slayer)

Απεβίωσε χθες σε νοσοκομείο της Νότιας Καλιφόρνια από ηπατική ανεπάρκεια ο αμερικάνος κιθαρίστας Jeff Hanneman (Jeffrey John Hanneman, 31/1/1964 – 2/5/2013) σε ηλικία 49 ετών. O Jeff Hanneman υπήρξε μέλος των Slayer -από τις πιο επιδραστικές και σημαντικές heavy metal μπάντες εδώ και 30 χρόνια- από τα πρώτα βήματα τους το 1981 και έχει γράψει μερικά από τα πιο εμβληματικά τραγούδια του συγκροτήματος

όπως τα ‘Angel Of Death’, ‘Seasons Of The Abyss’, κλπ.

Από το 2011 είχε σταματήσει να ασχολείται ενεργά με τους Slayer -χωρίς να έχει αποχωρήσει επίσημα- λόγω σοβαρής δερματικής ασθένειας (νεκρωτική απονευρωσίτιδα) και τον αντικαθιστούσε στις ζωντανές εμφανίσεις της μπάντας ο Gary Holt (Exodus). Ακολουθεί και η επίσημη ανακοίνωση των Slayer:

“Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.”
