Ζωγραφίζει κλειτορίδες από κιμωλία σε δημόσιους χώρους ως απάντηση στην καταπιεσμένη γυναικεία σεξουαλικότητα

Σε μια χρονιά που η λέξη «φεμινισμός» ανακηρύχθηκε η πιο δημοφιλής του έτους, είναι εύλογο να γίνεται πολλή συζήτηση γύρω από τα δικαιώματα των γυναικών σε διάφορους τομείς της καθημερινότητας.

Ένας από αυτούς τους τομείς είναι και η γυναικεία σεξουαλικότητα, η οποία διαχρονικά έχει υποστεί μεγάλη καταπίεση (και σε πολλές περιπτώσεις εξακολουθεί). Αρκεί να αναλογιστεί κανείς ότι υπάρχουν ακόμα και σήμερα χώρες στην Αφρική που διατηρούν την πρακτική της κλειτοριδεκτομής, ώστε οι γυναίκες να μην έχουν το δικαίωμα της απόλαυσης του σεξ και να αντιμετωπίζονται ως μηχανές αναπαραγωγής και μόνο.

Η 24χρονη Laura Kingsley βρήκε ένα πολύ ευφάνταστο τρόπο να στηλιτεύσει ακριβώς αυτό, δηλαδή το ταμπού που περιβάλλει την κλειτορίδα, ζωγραφίζοντας σε δημόσιους χώρους με κιμωλία κλειτορίδες που τις συνοδεύουν διάφορα μηνύματα.

“Nice clitoris!” exclaimed the partner of one of the artists when he stumbled upon us in the park. *** Though Brighton & Hove isn’t even in the top 10 cities by population in the UK, Brighton Pride is the largest pride event in the UK - one of the reasons the city has been called the “Unofficial Gay Capital of the UK.” . I found Brighton to be incredibly friendly, proud, and informative - with a lot of the museums and galleries highlighting the city’s rich LGBTQ history. The first same-sex couple to marry in the UK was in Brighton, who were married in the Royal Pavilion the first minute they legally could on March 29, 2014. . Το project της ονομάζεται «Clitorosity», ενώ με έτσι αποκαλεί και στο προφίλ της στο instagram στο οποίο δημοσιεύει τις δημιουργίες της. Ενδεικτική της ιδέας της είναι και η περιγραφή που έχει βάλει στο λογαριασμό της, γράφοντας: «Φωνάζω την ΚΛΕΙΤΟΡΙΔΑ στον κόσμο. Λέω ιστορίες και κινώ την περιέργεια γι′ αυτή την παρεξηγημένη πηγή σεξουαλικής ευχαρίστησης».

An artist and new friend from Porto told me more about her city as we walked toward a location she had in mind for a clitoris drawing. We gained inspiration from the tiles around us and laughed as we brainstormed phrases to say. . As we added finishing touches to the drawing, we heard, “That is a very, very, very, very nice... Cli-tor-is.” We looked up to see her parents. . Next thing I knew, we were all sitting around a table having a wonderfully honest conversation over beer. *** “Prazer em conhecer” in Portuguese translates to “Pleasure to meet you” in English. . Can’t wait to return to Porto to make ceramics, smash grapes, and draw clitorises with @imp.ines. . A gray-haired man wearing a white collared shirt, red tie, and black jacket walked slowly toward us from the Brighton Pier. Cigarrete in hand, he inspected what we were doing. . “Hi! How’s it going?” we asked him as he stood closer. . “I’m having a smoke break and curious what you are doing,” he replied. . I approached him to chat. He told me that he had been a Queen’s guard, “one of the men in the picture on the phone box. You know, Westminster... Buckingham Palace...” He shared stories about what it was like. . “People would come up to us, mostly Americans, thinking we couldn’t move. We had fun with them. Sometimes we’d give them a scare if they got too close.” . “People would do the craziest things. Often, people would hit on me by writing their number on a piece of paper, rolling it up, and sticking it in the barrel of my gun. I think they liked the uniform.” . “So what exactly am I looking at?” he said. . I told him that he was looking at a clitoris and explained Clitorosity to him. Γι′ αυτό και η Laura κάνει ό,τι μπορεί για να αλλάξει αυτή τη θεώρηση της κλειτορίδας στο σύγχρονο κόσμο.

In 1998, Dr. Helen O’Connell proved that there is much more to the clitoris’ internal structure. In the years following, many others have supported and expanded upon this clitoris research. . We’ve updated our teachings about these dinosaurs, but why have we not done the same for the clitoris?
