Greek primary surplus totalled 3.4 billion euros in 2013

The primary surplus figure was based using Eurostat's methodology, while the troika estimates this figure at 1.5 billion euros.

Staikouras said that troika's estimate was fully compatible with the government's decision to distribute a social dividend, repay overdue debt to the private sector and reducing non-wage cost in the country. Earlier, Eurostat said that the general government's deficit totalled 12.7 pct of GDP in 2013, while excluding the financial support to banks, the deficit was 2.1 pct of GDP.
