Striking Loutraki Casino employees continued daily rallies outside the casino building on Wednesday, while since Monday they have not allowed visitors into the casino premises.

The employees have been on a long-term strike, now in its 17th day, demanding an end to salary cuts, while they demand that the casino shareholders should pay the 40 million euros
in taxes owed to the Greek Gaming Supervision and Control Commission, without further wage cuts.

"The employees had paid approximately 12.5 million euros after the reduction of our salary between 2012 and 2013 and we are ready to pay the same amount during the next two years under the same collective labor agreement," said the employees' union president Vasilis Dramountanis in a statement for the ANA-MPA, while stressing that the staff should not have to "pay the overdue debt installments that the casino management had unjustifiably created."

The Loutraki city council, which is a casino shareholder, will convene at 19:00 to discuss the issue.

In a later announcement, the Hellenic Federation of Casino Employees' Unions (OSETYP) demanded that the casino's management immediately revoke a decision to close the casino. The General Confederation of Workers of Greece (GSEE) backed OSETYP's demand, and called the casino management's decision an "illegal and unconstitutional" lock-out, which cannot terminate labour relations".
