Investigation for the arrest of convicted terrorist Xiros continues; one arrest in Athens' Exarchia district

An individual affiliated to antiestablishment forces was arrested on Tuesday and is currently being detained at the counter-terrorism agency after authorities found a hand pistol in his house in Athens' Exarchia district. The search was part of an ongoing investigation to track down and arrest fugitive convicted terrorist Christodoulos Xiros, who has been at large since he failed to return to prison on January 6 from a week-long furlough.

Police raids are underway in houses in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Searches have been conducted in houses belonging to Xiros' relatives in Thessaloniki, as well as in houses of individuals affiliated to the antiestablishment movement both in Athens and Thessaloniki.
