Η Volvo ετοιμάζει το νέο V90 Cross Country

Ξεκινώντας με λίγη ιστορία,θα ξέρεις ότι για τη Volvo δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που μετατρέπει τα station wagon της σε πιο off-road εκδόσεις. Η αρχή είχε γίνει το το 1997 με το V70 XC να παρουσιάζεται λίγα χρόνια μετά την κυκλοφορία του Subaru Legacy-Outback, αλλά πολύ νωρίτερα από τα Allroad και Alltrack των Audi και Volkswagen

αντίστοιχα. Σύμφωνα με τα λεγόμενα της Volvo τότε, το V70 XC ήταν σχεδιασμένο να ανταποκριθεί στις αυξημένες απαιτήσεις του ακραίου σκανδιναβικού κλίματος και να αποδίδει σε όλες τις συνθήκες του δρόμου, από λασπωμένες διαδρομές και πολύ βαθύ χιόνι μέχρι εθνικά οδικά δίκτυα μεγάλων αποστάσεων.

Ο αντικαταστάτης του ήρθε το 2000 με το ίδιο όνομα που αργότερα άλλαξε και λεγόταν XC70, ακολουθούμενο από την τρίτη γενιά του μοντέλου το 2007. Κατά τη πορεία αυτών των μοντέλων η Volvo “δώρισε” τα χαρακτηριστικά στοιχεία των Cross Country οχημάτων της και στα υπόλοιπα μέλη της, όπως τα V40, V60, ακόμα και στο S60. Αργότερα θέλοντας να επεκτείνει τη γκάμα της στα crossover, συμπεριλαμβάνει επίσης τα XC60, XC90 και το αναμενόμενο XC40.

Η εταιρία επισπεύδει τις διαδικασίες λανσαρίσματος του νέου V90 Cross Country το οποίο θα γίνει στα τέλη του μηνός στην έκθεση του Παρισιού.

Extreme climate capability

Designed to cope with the demanding requirements of an extreme Scandinavian climate, Cross Country models perform in all sorts of road conditions – from muddy tracks and knee-deep snow to long distance highway driving. Proving a popular choice with horse and boat owners thanks to its high ground clearance, pulling power and responsive All-Wheel Drive, Cross Country has cemented its position as a premium mainstay and a true all-weather alternative to the SUV.

“We were very careful from the very beginning to ensure that the Cross Country concept was not just an exercise in rugged styling. We placed high demands on real-world capability, and as we developed the segment we added the comfort and convenience elements that Volvo drivers have come to expect,” said Dr Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research & Development at Volvo Car Group.

The eagerly awaited V90 Cross Country will be revealed in mid-September.
