Η BMW ξεκίνησε τη καταστροφή των πρωτότυπων ActiveE

Η BMW στα τέλη του 2011 είχε ξεκινήσει την ενοικίαση 700 ActiveE, μιας ηλεκτρικής Σειράς 1, η οποία ωστόσο φορούσε τον ηλεκτροκινητήρα και τις μπαταρίες του i3, σε μια προσπάθεια της BMW να συλλέξει δεδομένα από πραγματικές συνθήκες οδήγησης.

Πλέον ο κύκλος ζωής του προγράμματος έχει φτάσει στο τέλος του, μιας και το i3 έχει βγει στην αγορά, και έτσι η BMW μαζεύει όλα τα ActiveE που έχει διασκορπίσει σε Η.Π.Α, Ευρώπη και Κίνα. Τα αυτοκίνητα θα καταστραφούν, με την BMW να αφαιρεί από αυτά τις μπαταρίες οι οποίες θα επαναχρησιμοποιηθούν στα project του προγράμματος Battery Second Life.
