BMW adding M140i & M240i to range this summer

BMW is set to launch two new hot models this summer, joining the already impressively huge portfolio of the brand.

According to BMW Blog sources, the Bavarian company is preparing to introduce the M140i hatch and M240i Coupe/Convertible that follow in the footsteps of the recently launched 340i and X4 M40i. Basically, these two versions will gain an additional 15 horsepower (11 kilowatts) for a grand total of 340 hp (250 kW).

The M140i and M240i will be equipped with an Euro 6 compliant 3.0-liter all-aluminum motor that will replace the 3.0 turbocharged unit of the M135i/M235i models. The sexy M235i is capable of reaching 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 5.0 seconds, so we expect the new 40i variant that will be positioned below the range-topping M2 perform this sprint for 4.8-4.9 seconds.

As one would expect, the new engine will be mated to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed ZF automatic transmissions, sending power to the rear wheels, for both vehicles.

According to our source, the new M235i will be offered in Europe and the U.S., while the M135i will continue to be sold on the Old continent.
