Paint the Void : Χρώμα στο αστικό τοπίο εν μέσω πανδημίας

Δύο καλλιτεχνικοί οργανισμοί στο Σαν Φρανσίσκο των ΗΠΑ συνεργάζονται για να δώσουν χρώμα στο αστικό τοπίο και ταυτόχρονα να μεταδώσουν μηνύματα αισιοδοξίας, ενθάρρυνσης, αγάπης εν μέσω της πανδημίας του κοροναϊού.

Οι οργανώσεις Building 180 και Art for Civil Discourse υλοποιούν την πρωτοβουλία «Paint the Void» (Χρωμάτισε το κενό) στο πλαίσιο της οποίας καλλιτέχνες καλούνται να μετατρέψουν τις προσόψεις και βιτρίνες μικρών καταστημάτων, εστιατορίων, μπαρ που έκλεισαν λόγω της πανδημίας σε όμορφα έργα τέχνης.

Στόχος του πρότζεκτ είναι να μην μετατραπεί το Σαν Φρανσίσκο σε πόλη με μετα-αποκαλυπτική μορφή.

Η πρωτοβουλία είναι ταυτόχρονα εκστρατεία συγκέντρωσης βοήθειας για τους καλλιτέχνες που δεν έχουν εισοδήματα, αυτή την περίοδο.

«Βλέπουμε όλες τις σφραγισμένες εισόδους ως πιθανούς καμβάδες» ανέφερε η συνιδρύτρια του Building 180, Σάνον Ρίλεϊ.

Οι καλλιτέχνες είναι αποφασισμένοι να μετατρέψουν όλες τις εμπορικές λεωφόρους σε περιπάτους τέχνης» δήλωσε η Μέρεντιθ Γουίνερ υπεύθυνη του «Paint the Void».

«Θέλουμε να φέρουμε ελπίδα στην κοινότητα και να εμπνεύσουμε τους ανθρώπους» τόνισε.

Τα περισσότερα έργα τέχνης δημιουργήθηκαν και στη συνέχεια τοποθετήθηκαν στις προσόψεις καταστημάτων λόγω των περιοριστικών μέτρων.

@bauerware_sf complete in the Castro and she stuns and shines with artwork done by @feliciagabaldonart I hope our artwork opens up people imaginations and allows us to see how the world could be shaped a little differently when we open up our doors. These murals bring so much light and color into our neighborhood. They are packed with history, a narrative, and messages. I hope our city reflects on their beauty and continues to help support larger initiatives to bring art into the public. Art too, is essential. Report from @striderpatton another Project complete!⠀ ⠀ @flourandwatersf and @paintthevoidproject invited me to paint a series of panels on Flour and Water’s boarded up windows. It was an honor to paint there, being a favorite restaurant of mine in the Mission. ⠀ ⠀ Instead of one big panel, like I’m used to painting with murals, I used this opportunity to paint the 4 windows as separate works, treating the street like a mini outdoor gallery show – a “pop out” as I jokingly have thought about it. There is a through line of story between the individual pieces, and as always with my abstract work, I love hearing people’s interpretations. ⠀ ⠀ I hope these pieces bring some joy to the neighborhood during these challenging times! I certainly received lots of love from neighbors as I painted this week ⠀ ⠀ I think of art as an engine for cultural production and a trigger for experience. It’s something that happens, a process, not so much a quality or object. Art may not be a cure-all but it offers a new way of seeing, allowing us to process events and times in a new ways. I believe in its ability to open space for conversation, ideas and emotion. Art makes the invisible visible. Much love, SF . We love @striderpatton

“When deciding what to paint for Chez Maman, I considered doing a simple painting that I could quickly execute since the mural would be temporary. I quickly changed my mind and decided to really go for something special and paint as if it were my last mural.  In that process, I realized that although this unique time will pass and my mural will come down, how we treat people and carry ourselves will last in the minds of others for much longer. “ – @konorebi

Κάποιοι καλλιτέχνες ωστόσο με ειδικό προστατευτικό εξοπλισμό επέλεξαν να εργάζονται επί τόπου.

Ο καλλιτέχνης και μουσικός παραγωγός Duser έχει δημιουργήσει τρία γκράφιτι με καρδιές.

«Είναι σημαντικό οι άνθρωποι να αισθάνονται αγάπη, ώστε να μην αισθάνονται ότι έρχεται ο Αρμαγεδώνας και να τους παρέχεις ενός είδους ανακούφιση« δήλωσε.

«Με γοήτευσε η ιδέα ότι η τέχνη μπορεί να θεραπεύσει τον κόσμο» ανέφερε η Παζ ντε λα Καλζάδα η οποία δημιούργησε το δικό της έργο σε κεντρικό σταυροδρόμι της πόλης.

«Όχι μόνο από την άποψη του εξωραϊσμού, αλλά και επειδή εμπλέκεται η κοινότητα στη διαδικασία της επούλωσης και της αναμόρφωσης» εξήγησε.

Η καλλιτέχνης επέλεξε να ζωγραφίσει ένα συγκεκριμένο δέντρο, μία σεκόγια στο Μοντερέι.

Το δέντρο φυτεύτηκε το 1976 από σπόρους που είχαν μεταφερθεί στη σελήνη από τον αστροναύτη Στιούαρτ Ρούζα με το Apollo 14.

Μετά την αποστολή εννέα ημερών η NASA έδωσε τους σπόρους στη δασική υπηρεσία των ΗΠΑ για να φυτευτούν σε όλη τη χώρα.

«Είναι μία σεκόγια πολύ δυνατή και γερά ριζωμένη, γιατί χρειαζόμαστε πολύ σταθερότητα (τώρα)», είπε η καλλιτέχνης.

Στο site της πρωτοβουλίας έχει αναρτηθεί ένας χάρτης με τα σημεία της πόλης τα οποία έχουν γεμίσει χρώμα χάρτη στα έργα τέχνης.
